Search Marketing Manager
Effective Spend is looking for a Search Marketing Manager who will be responsible for building and leading a team of Search Marketing Specialist and Analysts, cross trained in both Organic and Paid Search, towards the delivery of superior client services and results. This individual must ensure that clients’ expectations are constantly being exceeded.
Effective Spend is an Internet Marketing Startup that takes a ROI focused approach to marketing clients’ products and services by utilizing best in class technology and an “in-house” style of communication and reporting.
Responsibilities:
SEM Team Management
- Develop and guide search team processes and participate in training of new SEM employees on these procedures.
- Create and distribute client focused campaign growth plans and ensure ROI and volume goals are met via ongoing management of SEM team
- Compile comprehensive monthly reports for distribution to clients, with internal optimization notes and comparisons to client’s goals and historical performance
- Work with clients and internal teams to determine campaign objectives, establish search specific KPI’s and timelines
- Monitor and report on industry trends and best practices that might lead to better client account performance and/or business development
- Renew client accounts and identify new business opportunities for those accounts
PPC Campaign Management
- Develop, implement and manage key client’s paid search campaigns to maximize ROI and conversions by optimizing bid rates, match type, ad copy, budgets, day parting, geo-targeting, keyword generation and other important attributes of the client campaigns.
- Proactively renew client accounts and identify new business opportunities by understanding each client’s product / service as well as the competitive landscape as it applies to search marketing.
- Compile comprehensive monthly reports for distribution to clients, with internal optimization notes and comparisons to client’s goals and previous performance.
- Utilize industry standard search software to its fullest by ensuring proper optimization strategies, keyword generation and reporting.
Website Optimization / Product Addition Insight
Suggest website merchandising and landing page ideas that will increase conversion rate and overall effectiveness of the PPC campaigns. Suggest additional product / service and brand ideas that will improve sales and ROI of PPC campaigns.
Website Analysis
Perform and deliver standard and ad-hoc analysis utilizing web reporting tools such as Google Analytics. Ensure accurate tagging of all manage traffic sources to ensure proper measurement and reporting. Create and drive the integration of key analytics data into the paid search strategy as well as into the weekly and monthly client reports.
Qualifications:
Search Engine Marketing
Significant experience (2+ years) leading and managing small, medium and large scale PPC programs with top three search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN/Bing). Ability to evaluate the program at a strategic level while also able to roll up sleeves and dig into the day-to-day management of the programs to find optimization opportunities big and small. Minimal requirement: must have managed an SEM/SEO budget of >$500K annual across multiple clients with total keywords exceeding 100K.
Agency Experience
Ideal candidates will have gained his/her online marketing experience at a similar digital media agency focused on PPC campaign management. Preferably, s/he has had experience at both client side as well as at an agency and appreciates the disciplined and analytical approach of implementing a complex program while embracing the sense of urgency, innovation and resourcefulness required at a fast-paced small company environment.
Web Analytics
This person should have extensive web analytics experience spanning from implementation to running advanced segmentation reports. S/he should preferably have several years of experience with Google Analytics and be able to utilize traffic, content, ecommerce and custom advanced reports to produce actionable insight that will aid in optimizing PPC campaign as well as to provide global website performance to the client.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of internet marketing business models and metrics as well as competitive and consumer research principles, marketing analysis and statistical methods
- Practical understanding of HTML, JavaScript, Flash and Web 2.0 technologies
- Proficient with developing custom reports and providing analysis and interpretation of website analytics
- Strong understanding of Excel; advanced formulas, pivot tables, macros a plus
- Excellent communication and writing skills and a mastery command of the English Language
